The Kajiado by election is not an ODM win, it is a Maasai community Win!

The tallying process was so uncertain, unpredictable and disturbing that most people shook and started doubting its credibility. This actually applied to both parties. The final announcement came as a relief to all in equal measure but more to ODM who waited in abated breath for the win. However, this is not a win for ODM, it is a maasai nation win, and a lose to the President, his cronies in maasailand and URP.

This win is a sign that the Maasai political landscape is shaping, I believe to the better. It has redeemed the dignity that comes with being politically united with and for a purpose. The people of Kajiado spoke on behalf of the Maasai; they simply made a verdict that it is and it will never be business as usual.

The Maasai community for a long time have been in the receiving end in national politics; getting into the arena as foster children not marriage partners. In traditional African societies, foster, orphaned and or adopted children do not enjoy equal privileges as biological children of a fostering family. This is exactly what the Maasai are grappling with, being babied by political parties a good example being URP , that has made Narok its colony; this community  has become of age; It is moving from political 'puberty' to political maturity. No goodies, no amount of intimidation and bribery can buy them to a political side any more. Bribery and job appointments was used in Kajiado but it did not work.

Political autonomy is what the Maasai need at this point in time, to save them from walking under powerful parties shadows and what they get in return is manipulation, intimidation and contempt. It is better for a person to remain single, independent and free than to enter into an abusive relationship, one that squeezes dignity out of you.

We wish our newly elected MP wisdom, passion, God's guidance and protection as he starts his journey of leading Kajiado Central and Maasailand to the promised land.
